Aspire Global

Cozy Games is a name that is likely to be familiar to anyone with even a passing interest in the world of online casinos.

While not carrying the kind of reputation enjoyed by the giants of the industry such as NetEnt, Cozy Games has been steadily building its reputation since its launch back in 2005.

While Cozy Games titles may not be the most earth-shattering you’re likely to find, they do undoubtedly have an audience.

A visit to the Cozy Games website shows a sense of realism from this developer, there are no claims of their games being the best, or the most impressive, instead Cozy say their “content rich games are aesthetically developed to entertain players”.

A nice sentence, for sure, but one you quickly realise doesn’t mean a lot, in as much as most, if not all developers design their games with the intention of entertaining players, because that is why those players play those games, to be entertained.

Despite, or possibly because of their humble attitude, Cozy Games titles have managed to build a name as a favourite amongst hobby players, whole the more professional and serious player will tend to favour the crisper slots created by higher profile developers.

One Stop Shop

As is the case with many software developers, games are only a part of what Cozy Games offer, with holistic white label solutions that can create a “fully branded site in 4 weeks”, providing everything an operator needs, from site build, to launch.

Cozy can also assist with licences, with online casinos and bingo sites they create holding licenses from Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission and the UK Gambling Commission.

Casinos and Bingo Sites

Cozy Games Management Ltd has many online casinos and bingo sites under its belt to add another string to the developer’s iGaming bow.

In terms of casinos, some of the best are Quack Pot Casino, Royalio Casino, SpinsVilla Casino, and Windfall Casino, while the top Cozy bingo sites include Bridezilla Bingo, Kelly’s Eye Bingo, Plush Bingo, Swag Bingo, and Swanky Bingo.

While all Cozy Games sites do include their own software, you will also find slots and table card games from NetEnt amongst a host of other developers.

Platform

The Cozy Games platform allows operators to offer games from an array of developers, as well as Cozy’s proprietary software, the platform also contains titles from Bally, Freemantle, IGT, OpenBet, and Sigma.

This mix of games gives operators the ability to immediately provide a plethora of different titles for their players from the point of launch.

The GVC Takeover

Over the last couple of years, GVC Holdings have been sweeping up as many big names in the iGaming world as they can.

While the takeover of Ladbrokes Coral not long after the merger between the two companies may have taken the majority of the headlines, this wasn’t the only important purchase that the company made.

In November of 2017, GVC released a brief statement to announce the acquisition of Cozy Games, with Jay Dossiter, head of media relations at GVC, saying at the time:

“I can confirm that we acquired Cozy Games, as a complement to our existing B2B and B2C product offer.

“The acquisition is not material from a disclosure perspective and we aren’t making any formal announcement or disclosing further details.”

While Dossiter may have been casual in his announcement, the purchase adds further to the impressive selection of games and sites that exist under the GVC umbrella, including ElectraWorks, Foxy Bingo, and more.

It is clear from their aggressive business strategy that GVC are looking to take over the gambling world, and CEO Kenny Alexander has not been shy in confirming this:

“It’s all about delivering shareholder value. In three years’ time, I’d hope the share price is £20. That’s what I would like to think.

“How do we get there? We have quite a few ideas. The US is obviously going to be important. Organic growth and grabbing market share in our key markets will be important and we might do more M & A.

“But what I want to do is get to £20 and reward our shareholders. I’m a shareholder as well and that’s what it’s all about.”

Games

When it comes to games, as with sites, Cozy Games needs to be split into two categories.

Firstly, bingo games, which make up a decent amount of the Cozy Games portfolio, with various types of bingo available.

90, 80, 75, 50, and 30 ball bingo are all present at Cozy Games bingo sites to ensure there is something to suit every taste.

The other side of the collection is casino games, and most of these are slots. Cozy Games slots are, in all honesty, not the most impressive.

The designs of these slots tend to be pretty basic, with graphics and animations not coming close to the quality of competitors, while several Cozy Games slots have an RTP that drops below 94%, which will also put off some players.

That isn’t to say these slots aren’t fun, the likes of Arabian Nights, Bargainista, Dog ‘n’ Roll, Party Night, and Shaman’s Luck (the latter being arguably the most well-known) certainly have their charm, but when compared to the best slots from other developers, they can’t come close.

The other issue with titles from Cozy Games is that the same selection is on offer at every single site on the network, making these sites feel very similar to each other, taking away any sense of individuality.

However, it doesn’t feel like Cozy Games are going for unique, this is a developer that lives up to its name, providing comfortably familiar themes, simple designs and gameplay mechanics.

If there is a word that perfectly sums up the content that is provided by this developer, it would definitely be Cozy.
