NYX Gaming is no longer an independent company. It was acquired in 2017 by the American giant Scientific Games. This Las Vegas headquartered conglomerate completed its takeover early in 2018. NYX Gaming now operates under its Scientific Games parent company’s umbrella, as part of the SG Digital division. The acquisition valued NYX Gaming Group at just under CAD $800 million (around US$630 million).

The NYX Gaming Group’s final published financial figures were for the third quarter of 2017, which saw total revenues of just under CAD$60 million. This represented a rise of nearly 8% on the previous year.
Originally, the NYX Gaming Group was listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange. It too had been partial to the takeover spree, having acquired its gaming software rival NextGen Gaming in 2011. This Australia-based company is responsible for the development of well over a hundred slots including some iconic titles, including the Foxin brand (Foxin Wins, the sequel Foxin Wins Again and a Christmas special edition), Gorilla Go Wild, King Kong and Merlin’s Millions. All these great games continue to be available but are now effectively under the ownership of Scientific Games.
Considering it was first taken over in 2011, the Aussie outfit have managed to retain their identity, with the NextGen brand continuing in much the same form, no doubt aided by their remote location.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of their previous owners. NYX Gaming are already being gradually excised from the history books, or at least, from Google. Their original website is already mothballed and all links refer to their Scientific Games overlords.
The online gaming industry continues to consolidate, with ever more takeovers resulting in more and more iconic brands ending up under the control of the big-name leviathans of the industry.
