This Australian company has been at the forefront of online gaming software development since its inception over 20 years ago. Founded in Sydney, New South Wales in 1999 it’s still based there today and still has that fresh Aussie attitude.

It’s done well to keep those antipodean roots given corporate politics have played a big part in its short life. It was merged with its rival NYX Gaming Group in 2011 but in reality it was more of a takeover. The NextGen brand was retained but NYX was the senior partner and its executives soon found themselves in key positions in the NextGen management team.
More recently the biter was bitten. NYX Gaming was acquired by the American giant Scientific Games late 2017. So today both NYX Gaming Group and NextGen Gaming are fully owned by the Las Vegas based Scientific Games and are part of the parent company’s digital division SG Digital.
Despite all the corporate shenanigans NextGen Gaming has managed to keep its own identity, no doubt helped by being far away from any American or European influence. It still operates as a standalone brand using the resources of its parent companies to do what it does best: design great games, especially slots.
In fact NextGen Gaming have produced some iconic titles – games that would sit comfortably on the shelf of the industry’s elite NetEnt. The most famous of these are the Foxin’ titles. Foxin’ Wins and Foxin’ Wins Again are two of the most played games around. Now Foxin’ Wins: A Very Foxin’ Christmas has joined the family. But that’s just the start of a very impressive collection of games.
Other notable NextGen Gaming titles include evergreen classics like 1 Can 2 Can, Double Play Super Bet, Gorilla Go Wild, Irish Eyes and Merlin’s Magic. NetEnt may be the first name on the list of software must-haves for casino operators but it’s true to say NextGen Gaming won’t be far behind.
